The church of St. Nicholas faces another side of the square. Like most baroque churches this one was originally Gothic, and in 1635 a monastery of the order of Benedictines was built beside it. The church was rebuilt in high baroque style in 1732-1735 by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. As the entrance to the church faced a narrow street of the Jewish Town, there was no need for any special decoration. But the side facing the Town Hall (here) is beautifully decorated, giving the impression that the main entrance is here on this side.
