Wandering up the stairs a ways into the Town Hall, I came across this powerful memorial. It reads:

In Grief and Shame - and appalled at the silence of those who knew - the State Capital City of Munich commemorates the 1000 Jewish Men and Women who were deported from Munich on November 20 1941 to Kowno and five days later at that site were brutally murdered. Among them were also 94 children.
