Patton was not killed in the war, but died several months after its end as the result of an automobile accident. Reflecting on this I am always reminded of George C. Scott's line near the end of the movie Patton, "There's only one way for a professional soldier to die. That's from the last bullet of the last battle of the last war."

After her death, Patton's wife was interred here beside him as well.
