Here is the little open-air market between the inner and outer walls of the town square area from the previous photo. There were some delicious smells as I walked through this area. This picture is a little grainy since this is a still frame from my video (used since I hadn't gotten a still photo of the marketplace but wanted to show this for the reason below).
The most amusing thing about this photo (at least to the fellow Japanese Animation fan) is the magazine stand that can be seen in the far background. In the window of this stand I happened to notice a softcover book for collecting stickers of Dragonball Z! (...had to give a German reference there, here's an English one for those who may be confused...) I was dumbfounded, and of course bought it immediately (even though I don't care for the series that much). This was my first proof on this trip that, indeed, anime is everywhere, even in mediaeval Lübeck!
