Coming around the corner from the entryway where we passed the house in the previous picture we entered this alley between the buildings leading to the restaurant entrance at the end. I later asked why the first floor windows were built an angle like that -- the reason is that in the olden days with the buildings so cramped together the lower windows were angled to try to let in a little more of the light which is mostly blocked by the upper floors of the neighboring building.
