This was the sign painted on the side of a wine shop near our hotel. The historically minded may recognize the name. Count Metternich of Austria was famous in early 19^th century Europe for organizing the alliances against Napoleon. (If you watch the movie Immortal Beloved, there is a scene were Beethoven and his assistant Anton Schindler meet with Metternich in Vienna). There is a strong Austrian influence in this region and some Austrian aristocrats had lands in this area, including Metternich.
