Seeing this image (and the closeup) of the rear of the cathedral made me flash back to the first time I saw Terry Gilliam's movie Time Bandits in the theater with my friend Jim Moskowitz. In one scene we break through an invisibility shield to reveal the "Fortress of Ultimate Darkness", wherupon the camera pans up the seemingly endless fortress which is covered in sharp. pointy, spires at strange angles. Jim turned to me and said "Wow, it's just so spiky!" Seeing this huge structure nearly equally covered in spiky towers just brought that memory to the surface!
