We were in Berlin on Sept. 14, 2002, just a few days after the 1-year anniversary of the terror attacks in the U.S. I thought it was touching that someone had laid a wreath here at the entrance to the former American sector of Berlin in memorial. The text of the ribbon coming off the wreath says in German,

"The dead of the terror attacks in New York and Washington - 11 September 2001"
